Since its inception, the LPGA Legends Championship has been played in three different states, on four different golf courses. But for the past two years, Copper Rock Golf Club has hosted the Tour full of women’s golf icons, providing a challenging track while delivering gorgeous views. The tournament has seen major champions in contention, and only two athletes have hoisted the trophy twice. Here are three things to know about the 2025 LPGA Legends Championship.
*Tournament Information
The 2025 playing will take place from May 22-24 in Hurricane, Utah. The field of 78 players will be competing for $400,000 and a winner’s share of $60,000. Copper Rock Golf Course is hosting the tournament for the second year in a row, after a successful event in 2025 that saw Angela Stanford and Cristie Kerr battle it out coming down the stretch, with Stanford ultimately winning her second consecutive LPGA Legends Championship.
*Angela Stanford Looks to Three-Peat
There are two athletes in the field this week who will be trying to pick up their third LPGA Legends Championship title. Angela Stanford and Trish Johnson are the duo with the pair of wins, but the stakes are highest for Stanford, who is looking to capture her third consecutive victory at this tournament.
Stanford won the 2023 and 2024 editions of the event at 10-under each time, defeating Johnson by one stroke in 2023 and Cristie Kerr by three shots in 2024. With her victory last year, the Texan became the first player to successfully defend her title in the LPGA Legends Championship.
But considering both Kerr and Johnson in the 2025 field, among plenty of other talented LPGA Tour greats, winning for a third time this week will not be an easy feat for the 47-year-old.
*Eight Major Champs Competing
Each year at the LPGA Legends Championship, the field only gets stronger, making this senior major that much more competitive, something further evidenced by the fact that eight major champions will tee it up at Copper Rock Golf Course for this year’s event. Take a look at what LPGA Tour major winners will be competing this week in Utah in hopes of adding another trophy to their collections:
