(MARCH 20, 2025 – VERSAILLES, KY) — The Woodford Legends Invitational powered by Suran Systems is set to return to the picturesque rolling hills of Central Kentucky this summer, bringing together sports legends for an unforgettable experience for the entire family. The event, set for June 3-8, 2025, will kick off with a Media Day on April 23, 2025, at The Woodford Club in Versailles, KY, featuring notable figures from the worlds of golf and horse racing.
This special media event will feature appearances from current U.S. Women’s Senior Open Champion Leta Lindley of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Major LPGA Champion Nancy Scranton of St. Augustine, Fla., and Hall of Fame Jockeys Steve Cauthen, Chris McCarron, Sandy Hawley, and Alex Solis.
The Woodford Legends Invitational 3rd annual tournament, showcasing the talents of some of the biggest names in the history of the LPGA Tour teeing it up alongside top female amateur golfers from the state of Kentucky in a unique two-woman team event, will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 7–8, 2025. The week of events will begin on Tuesday, June 3, and culminate in the main tournament on the weekend.
“I love the Woodford Club,” says Lindley, who will team up once again with former LPGA Tour competitor and past president of the PGA of America, Suzy Whaley. “I think the course suits my game, and it will be great warm up for the rest of the competitive season. It challenges every part of the game and is a great test of golf.”
Last year’s tournament champions, Catriona Matthew of Scotland and Becky Morgan of South Wales, are set to return to The Woodford Club to defend their title in June. At least a dozen of the state’s highest ranking female amateurs, including numerous college standouts, will compete in a separate division while playing alongside the Legends field.
“I especially love seeing the young women competing in both the pro-am and the tournament alongside the Legends,” notes Lindley. “Having the opportunity to mentor young women sets the Woodford Invitational apart from other events and really embodies the spirit and mission of the Legends of the LPGA tour, to inspire the next generation.”
