(July 24, 2026 – Lexington, Ky.) – One of the strongest fields ever assembled in the history of women’s professional golf is headed to Bluegrass Country next month for the 4th annual Woodford Legends Invitational – a 36-hole team event set for August 8-9.
Six LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame members headline a field of 32 Legends of the LPGA ready tee it up at The Woodford Club in Versailles, including Annika Sörenstam, Pat Bradley, Juli Inkster, Hollis Stacy, Jan Stephenson and Laura Davies.
“It’s the who’s who in all of women’s golf,” says Jane Blalock, a 27-time LPGA Tour champion who will make her fourth appearance in the event alongside teammate and major champion Patricia Meunier-Lebouc. “So many wonderful role models for young people getting into the game – it really sends a message to the community.”
Legends slated to appear in The Woodford Legends Invitational have combined for 322 wins on the LPGA Tour, 42 major championship titles, 13 U.S. Women’s Open titles and six U.S. Senior Women Open titles. Seven have served as a Solheim Cup Captain, including Team U.S.A.’s current captain, Angela Stanford, who will return to team up with three-time Assistant Captain Wendy Ward for the second consecutive year.
Stanford and Ward have two Legends team event titles under their belts and aim to add a third.
“We’re super excited to be returning to the Woodford Legends Invitational – truly a premier Legends team event,” says Ward, a 4-time winner on the LPGA Tour. “We’re looking to rack up lots of birdies and enjoy Bourbon country with all the amazing Kentucky fans!”
Returning for their third appearance at The Woodford Club, Jamie Fischer and Pat Bradley hope to find the same magic they had when they won the 2022 BJ’s Charity Championship team event in Massachusetts. Fischer, a decorated teaching professional who competed on numerous Tours in the 1990’s, still gets goosebumps playing with Bradley – who captured 31 victories on the LPGA Tour and is one of only seven Career Grand Slam winners in women’s golf.
“She has the four major trophies embroidered on her driver clubhead cover,” says Fischer. “I get chills thinking about it. I mean, this is a Grand Slam winner. This is a big deal.”
The field boasts two more Career Grand Slam winners in Sörenstam and Inkster. Annika Sörenstam is making her first appearance in Versailles and teaming up with sister Charlotta for the first time in a Legends event.
“Annika attracts attention wherever she goes,” says Blalock. “It is such a thrill to have her in this field with her amazing career not only as a competitor but with all of her initiatives that continue to give back to the game today.”
As in past stagings, The Woodford Legends Invitational will include five teams of Kentucky women amateurs playing alongside the Legends in a separate division, including 2025 Kentucky Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Champion Mary Keene Marrs.
“It’s rare to have this experience,” says Marrs, who was named the 2022 PGA Kentucky Female Golfer of the Year. “It’s incredible to have this opportunity in my home state.”
The Woodford Legends Invitational features two rounds in a two-person scramble format. Defending champions Becky Morgan and Catriona Matthew, who won the event in 2024 and 2025 with the same score – a two-day total of 26 under par – are set to return to attempt an unprecedented three-peat.
Given the unfathomable depth of this year’s field of competitors, it’s sure be a fight to the finish.
